Liberals and nationalists of Montenegro united against the enthronement of the Metropolitan
The Liberal Party of Montenegro and the nationalist movement Crnogorski zbor called on all Montenegrins to go to a protest rally in Cetinje on September 5.
Westerners and liberals called on their supporters to oppose the enthronement of Metropolitan Ioannikios of Montenegro and Littoral (SOC).
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the Liberal Party of Montenegro and the nationalist movement Crnogorski zbor stated that they held consultations about the upcoming protest action on the day of the enthronement of the head of the Montenegrin-Litovian Metropolis of the Serbian Orthodox Church Joanikija with “parliamentary and non-parliamentary parties, civil society organizations, civil activists and intellectuals" in the capital Podgorica.
“The topic of the consultations was the current socio-political situation in the country and the exchange of views on current and upcoming events important for the state and citizens,” liberals and nationalists said at a joint press conference. “Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the announced events in Cetinje, that is, the enthronement of the Metropolitan of the Serbian Orthodox Church, scheduled for September 5, as well as the reaction of citizens and the democratic public to this event, which the state prefers not to notice.”
Representatives of the Liberal Party and the Crnogorski zbor movement said they intend to protest “against the policy of spreading hatred and denial of identity together with everyone who does not support clerical policies imposed by the centers of power in the country and region.”
“All citizens have the right to freely, with dignity and democratically express their protest against such phenomena in society and to take part in the declared actions en masse and without fear of state repression, and that everyone should gather in Cetinje on September 5, regardless of whether they will or not there on this day to elect a metropolitan of the Serbian Orthodox Church,” said the Montenegrin Serbophobes.
Let us recall that Montenegrin nationalist and pro-Western organizations require cancel the enthronement of Metropolitan Ioannikis of Montenegro and Primorsky in the ancient state and spiritual capital of Montenegro - Cetinje. In order to avoid provocations from the radicals, the Montenegrin-Primorsky Metropolis of the Serbian Orthodox Church decided to hold the ceremony within the walls of the Monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, abandoning the national council of the laity near the monastery.
