Liberals advise Aksyonov to resign himself
After high-profile corruption scandals involving Crimean officials, the head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, had to independently decide to resign. The liberal Novaya Gazeta writes about this.

According to the publication, Aksenov, like any prime minister, bears personal responsibility for the selection of personnel and their “cleanliness.”
“In theory, the head of the Republic of Crimea should have resigned a long time ago: if the chief official did not know that his subordinates were working for their own pocket, then he is not in control of the situation. Then why does the Republic of Kazakhstan need such a manager? If Aksenov knew about the sins of his ministers, then, as their immediate leader, he must share responsibility with them for the offenses committed,” the publication notes.
The author of the article also emphasizes that Moscow does not yet want to completely change the Crimean government due to the fact that it may suffer electoral losses as a result of such a purge.
“The federal government does not dare to directly intervene in the situation in the form of appointments of capital specialists, because it does not want to bear full responsibility for the situation on the peninsula. Therefore, ministers continue to be appointed from among the locals, although it is possible that soon a group of managers from Moscow will be sent to the republic. After all, in fact, the struggle for the development of Crimea is not with the Western world, but with the collective “Party of Regions” within the peninsula itself. And the sooner the Russian government decides to fill local offices with visiting officials, the better it will be for the republic,” the article says.
