Liberals are again rallying outside the State Duma against renovation. There are detainees
About 300 citizens have been standing at the entrance to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in Moscow since 10 am today. They position themselves as citizens who oppose the renovation program (mass demolition of Khrushchev-era buildings) initiated by the Moscow government. However, the key role in the meeting is played by representatives of liberal political parties: Yabloko, 5 December and others.

Those gathered chanted “Moscow is our city”, “Reject the project”, “Shame” and others. Several people hold posters against the renovation. The police voiced warnings to those gathered, which prevented deputies from entering the meeting room.
After the remarks of law enforcement agencies were not heard, a group of special forces soldiers lined up to ensure the passage of deputies and State Duma staff.
About an hour ago, the police began detaining people with placards. Among them was the leader of the Moscow organization of the Yabloko party, Sergei Mitrokhin. He was taken to a paddy wagon, but was soon released, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The State Duma must today adopt in the final third reading the law on renovation in Moscow. This week the liberals already organized an unauthorized rally under the State Duma building and an illegal march. This happened on the day of parliamentary hearings on renovation, to which they were not allowed.
