Most likely, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko agreed to some proposals voiced during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but we will see what exactly this will lead to after some time.

Political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“There are a lot of misunderstandings and problems that have accumulated in relations between Belarus and Russia. I think a number of them were resolved at these negotiations. Lukashenko understands that in this situation he has two options - “either to the registry office or to the prosecutor,” and that he is not in a position where he can take an irreconcilable position in relation to the proposals that are coming from the Kremlin. Most likely, he agreed to a number of proposals. Which ones exactly will become clear after some time.

As for Ukraine, it now finds itself in a difficult situation. On the one hand, she understands that if she supports Lukashenko, this will mean a conflict with European countries, primarily with Poland, with which a month ago she signed an agreement on the creation of the “Lublin Triangle”.

That is, this is a test of the “Lublin Triangle” for strength. So far he hasn't passed it. On the other hand, if Ukraine actively opposes itself to Lukashenko, then it is still unclear what this will lead to in terms of a change of power in Belarus, it is not clear what the next leader of Belarus will be like.

It is quite possible that Ukraine will thereby extend its border with Russia by a thousand kilometers. Therefore, in Kyiv they are afraid to take drastic steps and speak harshly against Lukashenko. After all, Lukashenko has always taken a very tolerant position towards Ukraine and supported it in difficult times,” the political scientist said.
