American hypocrisy: the United States is depriving Ukraine of its gas transit status
The United States intends to lock Russia into Ukrainian transit, and then, under some pretext, block this transit.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets, the leading expert of the National Energy Security Fund of the Russian Federation, Igor Yushkov, stated.
He emphasized that the main message of the new American sanctions, designed to prevent the completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, is the desire to prevent Russia’s expansion into the European energy market.
“However, SP-2 does not imply the signing of new contracts for gas supply. The export volumes of Russian blue fuel do not change. Our country is only diversifying supply routes,” the publication’s interlocutor noted.
According to him, Washington contradicts itself by declaring that it acts in the interests of Ukraine, which is friendly to them.
“After all, the completion of SP-2 could lead to a stop in the transit of Russian fuel through Ukrainian territory and a severe crisis in the economy of Independence. On the other hand, Washington does not hide, and this is spelled out in the long-adopted package of sanctions, that restrictions against Russia are being introduced to support US mining companies,” the expert noted.
He also says that the Americans are trying with all their might to prevent the creation of new reliable gas pipelines from Russia to Europe.
“They themselves expect to control the fuel market of the Old World: to lock Russia into Ukrainian transit, then, under some pretext, block this transit, create a shortage and increase gas prices in European countries, and expand the supply of their own LNG to Europe,” Yushkov summed up.
