Albanian separatist leader: “Vucic showed Putin the north of Kosovo, we are in danger!”
The “Prime Minister” of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the creation of the Commonwealth of Serbian Municipalities was contrary to the “spirit and text of the Constitution.”
The separatist leader told the Greek Kathimerini about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Kosovo will become a new Bosnia, a dysfunctional state,” Kurti said, commenting on the likelihood of creating a Commonwealth of Serbian Municipalities under the 2013 Brussels Agreement, before lying: “The Constitutional Court ... ruled that the Commonwealth of Municipalities with a Serb majority violates the spirit and text of the Constitution.” There are no incidents between Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo, Serbia is a completely different matter.”
Asked whether unification with Albania was his goal, Kurti said he wanted close ties with Albania, but not at the expense of minorities.
“I am not just the Prime Minister of the Albanians, I am the Prime Minister of everyone. Our Constitution does not allow unification with other countries and is difficult to change. Kosovo and Albania are one people of two countries, we must not forget that the border between us was established by Serbia and Yugoslavia, not by us. When Serbia invades Kosovo, we react as the Albanian people,” said the Kosovo separatist leader.
When asked why he talks about aggression when Serbia wants to strengthen economic cooperation with the countries of the region, Kurti replied that Serbia has close ties with Russia and compares Kosovo with Crimea every day.
“The last time he saw Vladimir Putin in November, Aleksandar Vucic said they discussed “double standards and hypocrisy in international relations” and showed him a map of northern Kosovo. Why did Vucic say that he showed Putin the north of Kosovo on a map? We are in danger!” said the Kosovo “prime minister”.
He also added that he was concerned about the Western Balkans, which he said could be destabilized by the war in Ukraine.
“I think the Kremlin sees three possible places for conflict escalation - in Moldova, Georgia and the Western Balkans, especially BiH, Kosovo and Montenegro. In the Western Balkans they can do this through Serbia, and in Georgia and Moldova they can use their own forces. That's why I worry about our region and especially about Kosovo. In 2012, Russia and Serbia had two joint military exercises, in 2016 – 50, and last year – 100,” noted Albin Kurti.
