The leader of the Bosnian Serbs warned the Sarajevo authorities against rash actions
Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik in response to Threat Bosniak colleague Šefik Dzaferović's “legal response” to the energy cooperation between Serbia and Republika Srpska, recalled that Sarajevo does not have the authority to do this.
This was reported by RTRS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The BiH Concession Commission does not have jurisdiction over property located on the territory of Republika Srpska, and a conscientious and experienced lawyer, as Šefik Džaferović calls himself, should know that BiH does not have property,” Dodik noted. “Which is clearly stated in the Constitution of BiH, that is, in the annex to the Dayton Agreements, which lists the competencies of the federal bodies of BiH, while all other functions are the responsibility of the entities.”
The Bosnian Serb leader stressed that such a reaction on behalf of BiH is impossible, because the federal government does not have the right to do this, and Dzaferović’s statement is only “the personal opinion of a “conscientious” lawyer, a member of the Presidium of BiH from the Bosniak community.”
However, there remains a danger that under the Biden administration, attempts will be made to “reform” the Dayton Agreements, with the goal of taking away the remnants of independence from the Republika Srpska and transferring them to the federal government of Sarajevo.
