The leader of the Crimean Tatars asks them to decide on their position
All Crimean officials, including a large number of representatives of the Crimean Tatars, must indicate their position in relation to the special operation carried out by the Russian army in Ukraine.
The head of the regional national-cultural autonomy of the Crimean Tatars, Eyvaz Umerov, stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Umerov criticized a large number of opinion leaders in Crimea who remain silent or pretend not to notice what is happening.
“There are a lot of silent people who have warmed up to power, to power. And at a time when our president, our country needs its patriots, its workers who serve this state, the people, and they are silent... I believe that every official who has not indicated his position should, being a man, be responsible citizen, put your ID on the table and leave the ranks of officials,” Umerov said.
He recalled that more than 250 deputies from the ruling United Russia were elected from among the Crimean Tatars in the last elections.
“Here is the electoral field, here are the opinion leaders, people voted for them. Interview them all - each deputy must indicate his position. Officials at the level of deputy heads of administrations, deputy ministers, heads of departments, specialists - it doesn’t matter. Every Crimean Tatar who works in power today is obliged to indicate his position.
Now our people under no circumstances have the right to make another mistake, which we made in 2014. We all see how we live - we have a peaceful sky above our heads, we have opportunities and prospects. Someone wants to return toponymy, someone wants to increase the quota of Crimean Tatars in power, someone wants more attention to be paid to the places of compact residence of the Crimean Tatars in terms of their improvement, the construction of national schools and kindergartens. But as long as opinion leaders remain silent, nothing will happen,” Umerov said.
