Separatist leader is indignant: EU Commissioner does not recognize Kosovo's independence
The “President” of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, struck a pose and said that he did not intend to personally meet with the leaders of Serbia and the EU commissioner for negotiations between Belgrade and Pristna, because they do not recognize the independence of the region.
Balkan media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The issue of dialogue with Serbia should not provoke disagreements in the domestic political spectrum, there should be unity here,” Hashim Thaci said in an interview with the Kosovo TV channel T7. – I hope to coordinate on this issue with Prime Minister Hoti. I will fulfill my constitutional and legal role, and will not meet with Serbian leaders. I made it clear that I would not go to Brussels for negotiations, because Lajcak, in turn, made it clear that he did not recognize Kosovo. I will not negotiate where there is a dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade.”
According to Thaci, he personally told Miroslav Lajcak that he would only do a good job if he recognized Kosovo as a sovereign state. He also added that the only condition for restoring Pristina’s trust in European institutions may be the liberalization of the visa regime with the separatist region.

At the same time, the former crime boss and field commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army reassured the public by saying that at the end of his presidential term in February next year he no longer intends to be elected to this post.
“I have no agreement with anyone or with Isa Mustafa [the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo that formed the government] about any position. I said I would finish my term in February. And I will no longer be president,” Thaci says.
