The leaders of the Eastern European limitrophes are going to Kyiv. Are they bringing Zelensky with them?
Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, head of the country's National Security and Defense Committee Jaroslaw Kaczynski, as well as Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala and Slovenia Janez Jansa are heading to Kyiv.
This was reported by the press service of the Polish Prime Minister, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is noted that in the capital they are going to meet with President Vladimir Zelensky and Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.
“Together with Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski and Prime Minister of Slovenia Janez Janša, we are leaving today for Kiev as representatives of the Council of Europe to meet with President Zelensky and Prime Minister Shmygal,” the visit confirmed in its blog Peter Fiala.
“The trip was organized in agreement with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The purpose of the visit is to confirm unequivocal support for the entire territory of the European Union, the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, as well as to provide a wide package of support for the state and Ukrainian society,” Morawiecki’s press service reports.
Russian military observer Boris Rozhin notes that European politicians on their train may not just be going to a meeting with Zelensky, but taking him to Kyiv.
“It is reported that the prime ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia are traveling by train to Kyiv. Allegedly for a meeting with Zelensky. Taking into account the fact that there is not a single video that 100% proves Zelensky’s presence in Kiev, I would not rule out that under the cover of this visit, Zelensky himself could be delivered to Kiev from the territory of NATO countries on the same train,” the expert suggests.
Former deputy of the Kyiv regional council, member of the nationalist VO “Svoboda” Alexander Aronets recalls in his blog that European leaders visited Tbilisi in the same way at the height of the Russian-Georgian war in 2008, which allegedly brought the end of the conflict closer.
“On August 12, 2008, President of Ukraine Yushchenko and the presidents of Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and the Prime Minister of Latvia made an unprecedented visit to the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, threatened by Russian aggressors, to help President Saakashvili. Then this seriously changed the course of the war and stopped the orcs,” says Aronets.
