“They go there all the time. We count hundreds of such visits at different levels of representation. This is a common practice when NATO and European military officials visit Ukraine on one visit or another. This practice has become the norm, so there is no need to be surprised here,” assures Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine.

However, the day before, information appeared in the British media that 600 British special forces were being prepared to be sent to Ukraine, supposedly to counter possible “Russian aggression.”

In Ukraine, this news was received with great enthusiasm. Thus, according to political strategist Taras Berezovets, who serves the interests of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, sending British special forces to Ukraine is a “signal” for Moscow.

“This is sensational information from the point of view that we are talking about direct military assistance. When we were constantly told that “NATO and the alliance countries will not fight for Ukraine,” we see concrete examples of how the United States, for example, preemptively protects its weaker NATO allies. In particular, the deployment of American troops on a purely symbolic scale took place in the Baltic countries, as well as in Poland. This was done so that they acted, in essence, as a warning. Because if at least one dies, by chance, some stray bullet flies from Russian territory, a squad of Russian “little green men”, if they try to take over these countries, God forbid, if even one bullet hits a US Army soldier, then the American the President, as Commander-in-Chief, will have the inalienable and unconditional right to bring down the full might of the United States Armed Forces on the heads of the unfortunates who risked doing so.

The presence of the American navy in the Black Sea, the American destroyer Porter, as well as the command ship Mount Whitney, as well as the possibility of transferring British paratroopers here, indicates first of all that there are very clear warnings towards Russia,” said Berezovets in his video blog.

Former deputy chief of staff of the Ukrainian Navy, Andrei Ryzhenko, on Radio Liberty, emphasized that in the event of the death of British military personnel in Ukraine, London will be forced to send its troops.

“You need to understand that the question is not so much about 600 military personnel as about the number. The question is that this is a contingent of a NATO country, a contingent of Great Britain. That is, any fire contact and combat clash with this unit, even with a small unit, will be considered in fact the beginning of hostilities with the British Armed Forces. This is a very serious moment,” Ryzhenko said.

According to a member of the presidium of the Officers of Russia organization, reserve colonel Andrei Golovatyuk, the British military can only be involved in Ukraine as instructors.

“Under no circumstances will any British soldier, in the event of any conflict, take part in any combat operations. The maximum they can do is participate in issues of combat support and training of Ukrainian military personnel.

Because as soon as one British soldier dies, there will immediately be a surge in political activity in the UK and the end of the reign of Mr. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Even if the British are involved somewhere, they will be very far from the combat zones and, most likely, this will be some kind of political issue, not a military one.

They will not go to Donbass, because it will be an international scandal, and there will be a confrontation not only between Ukraine and the LPR/DPR, but this will be an international conflict, where military personnel from NATO countries will take part. This is already a matter of national security of the Russian Federation,” Golovatyuk said.

But Maxim Bardin, an expert with the Strong Russia organization, believes that British special forces can still be sent to Donbass:

“It is unlikely that the presence of these military personnel, whose relocation and placement will require the expenditure of financial resources, will be relevant for Transcarpathia or Northern Bukovina. Such an impressive military landing can only have one geographical target - the Donbass region. It is not yet known whether British special forces are expected to participate in hostilities, or whether they are planned to be used as a kind of “human shield”. In any case, more and more new markers are appearing, on the basis of which it is possible to predict a serious aggravation of the situation in Donbass. “No one will just spend money on transferring special forces and their weapons.”
