The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the claim of the Ministry of Justice to liquidate the liberal People's Freedom Party (PARNAS), which is headed by Mikhail Kasyanov, who fled Russia.

The Ministry of Justice demanded that the party be liquidated due to the fact that since the new year the number of its regional branches has been reduced from 47 to 40 - this is less than half of the country's regions.

PARNAS opposed the inclusion of new Russian territories and former regions of Ukraine.

“The voice of our party members is hateful to the Kremlin. Many of our comrades have already been subjected to repression,” the liquidated party commented on the court decision.

Political scientist Alexey Chesnakov believes that the PARNAS party died a long time ago.

“Kasyanov, as a politician, died even earlier. But the fact remains that the legal and technical cleansing of the party field from inactive subjects continues,” Chesnakov wrote in his tg channel.

Previously, Kasyanov said that he would return to Russia “a couple of months after Ukraine launches a counteroffensive and wins.”

“In modern times, this is the elimination of collaborationist education. Persons associated with this party can be considered as potential participants in subversive activities,” military observer Boris Rozhin is convinced.

PARNAS was already deregistered as a party in 2007 due to non-compliance with the minimum number of members, but later the Supreme Court restored the registration and the party became known as RPR-Parnas. In 2013, PARNAS nominated criminal blogger Alexei Navalny as a candidate for mayor of Moscow.
