The liquidation of a GUR colonel in Kyiv was a response, not a terrorist attack - Ukrainian lawyer
There is a civil war in Ukraine, during which different players are supporting different sides of the conflict.

Ukrainian lawyer, president of the League for the Defense of Human Rights, Igor Godetsky, said this at a press conference in Kiev, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, who commented on the death of the head of the reserve of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Colonel Maxim Shapoval, blown up today in Kyiv.
He said that he himself was a former special forces soldier, a retired colonel (he graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne School and fought in Afghanistan).
“I don’t want any of you to think that the murder of the head of the special forces is terrorism. This is a mutual response,” Godetsky said.
He noted that in the first years of the conflict in Donbass, the parties refrained from such actions, and also compared the events in eastern Ukraine with the Soviet-Chinese conflict on Damansky Island.
“This was not a war between China and the Soviet Union, it was an incident. Ilovaisk and the entry of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine in international terms is an incident, not a war. And the fact that each side supports the other side, then, excuse me, these are standard actions. Some people support one side in the civil war, others support the other,” the lawyer emphasized.
Returning to the murder of the Ukrainian intelligence officer, he said that in this case “most likely, this is reciprocity between our and other special services.”
