“Limonovites” were unexpectedly allowed to hold a congress - they gathered for elections to the State Duma
Eduard Limonov’s “Other Russia” party held a congress today, at which it changed its name to “Other Russia Outlines of the Future” in order to be able to register with the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and take part in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation this fall.
There was intrigue surrounding the congress. The party leaders claimed that they were being obstructed because the administration of the Izmailovo Hotel, where the Limonovites rented a hall for 40 thousand rubles, twice asked them to postpone the event due to some technical problems. The first time “Other Russia” agreed, but the second time it refused, because at that time an advertisement had already been published - and not just anywhere, but in the government “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
“At first we thought that this would be a legal obstacle, but Rossiyskaya Gazeta met us halfway and published the place and time,” party coordinator Mikhail Aksel said on the Limonka YouTube channel.
Ignoring the warning from Izmailovo, 98 stern deputies from 46 regions came to the hotel today and found a paddy wagon at the entrance (apparently, the police remembered the heroic past of the party in the XNUMXs and decided to play it safe).
However, instead of arrests, there was... a congress. The Limonovites were allowed into the hall and provided with a microphone. While they were carrying tables and nailing a portrait of the leader and a poster with a lemon on the stage, party members were talking in bewilderment: “They’ll also register us like this. What will we do then?
The event took just over an hour. The participants of the congress were afraid that “Comrade Colonel” was about to come for them, so the reports were delivered in the timing and style of rally speeches, and all decisions were made quickly and unanimously.
“When we came here and saw an empty hall where we could hold a convention, we were shocked. This is a major victory. I will speak quickly, because I did not prepare and thought that I would be traveling with you in a paddy wagon to some police department. Nevertheless, I am speaking here,” began co-chairman of “The Other Russia” Andrei Dmitriev.
According to him, the internal situation in the country “has worsened towards police brutality.”
“Two people created this situation from scratch: Vladimir Putin and Alexei Navalny. Navalny's return has created a conflict that benefits both sides. Now Navalny is the main enemy of the Kremlin and the leader of street protests. This is beneficial for Putin because the majority of the Russian population cannot stomach Navalny,” Dmitriev explained the current situation.
He assessed the likelihood of the party’s registration as very low (“Although after today I won’t be surprised at anything”), and therefore, according to him, “The Other Russia” should lead the street protest. Moreover, not only Russian streets are ready to develop the National Bolsheviks.
“If there were smart people in the Kremlin, they would remember Limonov’s proposal to use us outside of Russia. There we can be useful in defending the interests of the Russian world and our country. We could easily find 20 people in this hall who would go to Prague and show the Czechs how we feel about what they are doing now,” Dmitriev said.
When all the necessary decisions were voted on, the congress participants immediately relaxed, and obscenities began to slip into their speeches. Representatives of friendly organizations made welcoming speeches. They were also surprised and admitted that they had come to “get involved” with the Limonovites, but ended up at the congress. The National Bolsheviks joyfully shouted “Glory to Russia!”
