Only 1% of refugees from Donbass found work in “greater Ukraine”
Kyiv, October 07 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – There is no opportunity to find work for refugees from Donbass in Ukraine.
This was stated by Irina Akimova, director of the analytical center “New Social and Economic Policy” at the round table “Internally Displaced People in Ukraine: Six Years of Ordeal and Hope.”

“Competition for one vacancy in cities such as Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kyiv has increased by 1.5-2 times. Of all those who arrived today, about 1,8 thousand people have found work. This is only 1% of the working-age population who left the territory of their residence,” says Irina Akimova.
In her opinion, displaced people have neither the opportunity nor the incentive to look for work. According to her data, only 10% of the 190 thousand working-age population actually applied to employment centers.
“The absence of a normal workplace and in a place of temporary residence will mean one thing - no income from work, no money to support the family, which means social tension increases within the family and in the region,” she says.
