“Just not to lose”: Karasev on the media effect of the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive
As part of the current offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the main thing is what media effect it will receive.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this in an interview with journalist Alexander Shelest, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, now there is more of a war, given that modern society is media-based, and it is media representation, that’s all, not even so much in the field, on the ground, in reality. Today reality is media reality... Real is what actually is, and reality is what is created by modern means of communication, information, and digitalization.
Therefore, it is important here to keep the impression, the impression that there is about to be an offensive, it will be big, and that there are no effects of defeat. Because the effect of defeat immediately affects the political component of the war. And what is the political component of war? This is diplomatic support, this is coercion to negotiate, or vice versa, no negotiations. This is further military assistance,” the expert said.
“Therefore, first: the main thing is not to lose. The second is to constantly create an impression, military-militaristic impressionism, to create impressions so that, God forbid, faith in victory is not shaken. And faith in victory creates trust in the side, whether to help it further or not, whether it is legitimate to continue the war or illegitimate. These factors play the main role today,” Karasev said.
