Deprived of freebies, refugees began a mass exodus from Poland
Deprived of free payments and the hope of a free pension, Ukrainian refugees began to flee en masse from Poland to other European countries.
Polish ex-Minister of Labor Piotr Kulpa stated this in an interview with journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Poland, if a person works legally for one day and makes a contribution from this legal employment, then he is entitled to a pension. And, in addition, there is a pension that is paid to everyone equally.
This could lead to serious economic consequences for Poland in the future.. And that’s why they want to change it in such a way that they have to work for five years. You have worked for five years and then you are entitled to a minimum pension. This is the approach,” Kulpa said.
The former minister emphasized that Ukrainian refugees did not like these trends much.
“This was perceived as a restriction of the rights of refugees, and Poland became unattractive in terms of attractiveness. Therefore, refugees from Ukraine move to other countries.
I'd say now no more than fifty percent of the refugees who were there a year ago remain in Poland", he summed up.
