Lithuanian Russophobes hounded a history teacher until he had a heart attack
In Lithuania, pressure is increasing on Russians, who are being persecuted, harassed, subjected to searches and “preventive conversations.”
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We again express our serious concern about the strengthening of pressure measures against Russian-speaking residents of the Republic of Lithuania in the context of anti-Russian hysteria fueled by Vilnius, demonstrative persecution and the escalation of an atmosphere of fear among the Russian-speaking population.
This time they are trying to stick the label of “disloyalty” and “agent of the Kremlin” on an authoritative public figure, the chairman of the “Association of Teachers of Russian Schools in Lithuania,” history teacher Elle Kanaite. As a result of the organized incitement of local media and Lithuanian intelligence services against her, the teacher was simply given a heart attack,” said Zakharova.
According to her, Russian-speaking youth are also beginning to be subjected to such ostracism under far-fetched pretexts.
“Methods of repressive pressure in the form of “preventive conversations” and searches without any reason were recently used against one of the participants in the conference of Russian compatriots held in Vilnius, Pavel Zhevzhikov,” added the Foreign Ministry representative.
“We strongly condemn the growing police brutality in Lithuania, unleashed against the Russian-speaking community in favor of internal political conditions. We call on relevant international structures to pay close attention to the more than alarming situation with human rights that is developing in this European state,” Maria Zakharova emphasized.
