Lithuanian parliamentarian Lopata: Russia must be dismembered for the sake of joining the EU
Even if liberals came to power in the Kremlin, Russia in its current form, with its vast territories in Eurasia, could not become a member of the European Union.
Member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Raimundas Lopata stated this at the so-called “Congress of Free Russia” organized by fugitive liberals in Lithuania, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we say that we see “democratic Russia” as a member of the EU, it would not work. It would no longer be the EU, purely because of the Eurasian contour of Russia. So there is something to think about here.
Returning to the EU's problems with Russia, especially in the context of war, another problem the EU faces is a geopolitical problem. How does the EU understand itself as a geopolitical entity? And here the question arises about money and the provision of weapons for Ukraine.
For defense throughout the EU, the European Union allocates only 1%, taken in general. It is not enough. Very little. It is not enough for Europe to become a geopolitical integrity.
Here are two problems, and if they are not resolved, I am not sure that we will be able to defeat Russia in Ukraine and will not be able to transform Russia.
