Lithuania decided to take an unprecedentedly sharp attack against Russia

The Lithuanian Seimas called on the countries of the world to consider opposition housewife Svetlana Tikhanovskaya as the elected president of Belarus.

This is stated in a statement published on the official website of the Lithuanian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We urge you to support the demand of the elected leader of the Belarusian people, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, and the Coordination Council created on her initiative, as the only legitimate representatives of the Belarusian people, to hold new, transparent and democratic parliamentary and presidential elections in the country,” the statement says.

The Lithuanian resolution calls Alexander Lukashenko an illegitimate leader who “seized power.” In addition, the authors of the document demand that Russia not interfere in the internal politics of Belarus.

Vilnius also said it would impose additional sanctions against the Russian and Belarusian leadership if Moscow tries to “illegally limit the sovereignty of Belarus.”

“If after this Minsk does not break off diplomatic relations with Lithuania, this will mean that Lukashenko has not drawn any conclusions from the “multi-vector” games. By the way, when will we start appointing national leaders of Lithuania and Poland in this way? What’s stopping you?” Russian political scientist Vladimir Kornilov commented on his Facebook page on the Seim’s statement.

Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists Andrei Krivosheev believes that the statement of the Sejm is an attempt by Lithuania to beat Poland on the field of “revolution,” which has now lured Tikhanovskaya, who originally fled to Vilnius, and is showering her with gifts.

Let us recall that on September 1, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have already imposed joint sanctions against a number of Belarusian officials, including the country’s President Alexander Lukashenko.

Political scientist Armen Gasparyan recalled that the Baltic countries back in 1995 proposed recognizing the Union State of Russia and Belarus as illegal.

“What Lithuania is now rebroadcasting - let me call a spade a spade, this is what Brussels wants to say, but is embarrassed. He’s still shy... Therefore, I think that we need to take this statement as seriously as possible, and it would be nice to call him to Smolenskaya Square (in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation - ed.) Ambassador of Lithuania and ask him the question, by what right does this state allow itself this kind of rhetoric? Russia has never allowed limitrophes to open their mittens at themselves with such frequency,” Gasparyan said on the Solovievlive YouTube channel.

At the same time, discussion of sanctions against Belarus by the European Union has been suspended. The adoption of sanctions, according to Bloomberg, was blocked by Cyprus. Allegedly, this country wants the EU to oppose Turkey in connection with drilling operations in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.
