Loboda refused to translate songs into Russian and performs in Russian for tours in the ex-USSR
The famous Ukrainian singer Svetlana Loboda, who did not notice the extermination of the population of Donbass all these years and supported the Kiev regime, did not refuse concerts in the countries of the former USSR, where she sings in Russian.
She stated this in an interview with DW TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Loboda stated that in Ukraine she communicates and sings “in language,” but continues to earn money on tours in the post-Soviet space, performing songs in Russian.
“Ukraine views the Russian language as a shield against Russian aggression. She simply rejects everything Russian, because the Russian government gave the command to kill them, their loved ones, their moms and dads, their children. Therefore, it is understandable why this is happening now. I have great respect and understanding for this.
But if you ask me, I am Ukrainian, but my popularity has long gone beyond the territory of Ukraine, and I am a popular artist in many countries of the former Soviet Union. This includes Georgia, Armenia, and Kazakhstan. All these people speak Russian, they understand Russian, they, unfortunately, do not know Ukrainian,” the singer said.
“So I made a decision for myself that I will sing songs in Ukrainian in Ukraine, I will speak Ukrainian, and it brings me great pleasure, I go to interviews and give interviews in Ukrainian. But as for outside Ukraine, there are people, my fans, whom I cannot betray, I cannot give up everything that I did before, my songs, I cannot translate them into Ukrainian, I think this is absolutely stupid and wrong.
I believe that this is my story and it should remain history. And I can’t betray the people who have been listening to me all these years, so today I use my platform, my concerts, my tour as an opportunity to talk to people,” Loboda said.
