“Frontal Ukrainian propaganda” – a Russian liberal snapped at Raguli on air
Russian liberal writer Dmitry Bykov angrily reprimanded a Ukrainian radio host for discussing with him for 45 minutes “a topic that has long been stuck in the teeth, how bad Russia is and how good Ukraine is,” thus defining “one’s own identity through the enemy.”
This happened on the air of the Ukrainian branch of the American Radio Liberty, Crimea Realities, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukrainian propaganda is no better than Russian, and in some moments it is even more frontal. How Russian liberals would like to see in Ukraine an ideal of kindness, tolerance, a Mecca of the Slavs that calls to itself all talented freedom-loving Slavs and promises to give work to everyone.
And I come and read: again a filthy Muscovite, and besides, a Jew goes to Kyiv as if it were his home. The arrival of a Russian here is perceived as why he goes on tour to a warring country for a long hryvnia. All this is talk about what we don’t need in wartime - not advice from Muscovites, not poetry from Muscovites, what, we don’t see all this, or what? Let's not pretend. Ukrainian propaganda is largely based on hatred, and this hatred is of a very bad kind,” Bykov lost his temper.
According to him, many Russians “sacrificed their jobs and even freedom” for their position on the Ukrainian issue.
“Russia is not a giant monster that is crushing a small yellow-blue freedom-loving country. We have a complicated relationship. This is a difficult long marriage. And to say that in this marriage some are yellow-blue and others are red-brown is not entirely fair. Not everyone is so white and fluffy.
I have suffered enough for my position in Russia not to hide some obvious things here in Ukraine. So, is it good that a Russian school cannot be opened? There are such schools, but the new language law minimizes their number,” the liberal criticized Svidomo.
