Lockdown turns into a knockdown of Ukraine
The introduction of a lockdown from January 8 will finish off Ukrainian small businesses, and those in the government who made this decision do not understand its consequences.
Journalist Dmitry Gordon said this in a conversation on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A knockdown awaits us. This is not a lockdown, this is a knockdown. This will lead to the fall of the most vulnerable part of the population, small businesses. Medium businesses will suffer greatly. All people will suffer because of this. The economy will suffer.
How many people walk around without masks. A friend of mine fell ill with coronavirus, stayed at home for three days, put on a mask and went to infect others. This is where we need to work, and closing businesses is the last thing. This is a very strong blow.
I think the government realized that if a lockdown was introduced on New Year’s, people might even take to the streets. For many entrepreneurs, the New Year's period is the most nourishing time. That's why we decided this way.
Decisions that are haphazard, short-sighted, poorly thought out, and the leaders making them are not looking several steps ahead,” Gordon said.
