London does not want to bomb Syria and demands evidence of a chemical attack
In a call with US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Theresa May said London needed more evidence to engage in a military response to a suspected chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma.
The Kiev online newspaper “Strana” writes about this, citing the British Times.
Theresa May yesterday told President Donald Trump that Britain needs more evidence of an alleged chemical attack carried out by the Assad regime before joining a military strike on Syria.
At the same time, the British Prime Minister did not agree to take part in the “quick payback.”
According to media reports, during internal discussions, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson insisted that the UK should not stand by and the use of chemical weapons should not go unpunished. However, May herself was skeptical about the effectiveness of last year's strike on the airbase in Homs, which Trump launched in response to another case of alleged use of chemical weapons.
