London demands that NATO “allies” increase spending on the war with Russia at the hands of Ukraine
Washington must force the rest of NATO to follow Britain's example and significantly increase its military budget.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced this at a joint press conference with US President Joe Biden, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“...Is everyone contributing? ...As I said, the UK is proud to be, next to the US, the largest contributor to the war effort in Ukraine,” Sunak said.
He called on the remaining members of the Alliance to significantly increase military spending.
“And I think it’s right that other countries also step up and contribute. We are fortunate that America is investing in European security, but we must share the burden with you, which is why UK defense spending has been above NATO's 2% target.
They are on a rising trajectory and we would urge other countries to follow the example of the US and UK because our security is collective,” the prime minister added.
