About it reports the official website of the IOC.
This happened after three more Olympic medals were retroactively taken away from the Russians due to violations of anti-doping rules.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) commission, led by Denis Oswald, found Russian bobsledders Alexander Zubkov and Olga Stulneva, as well as speed skaters Olga Fatkulina and Alexander Rumyantsev, guilty of violating anti-doping rules at Sochi 2014.
The results of the athletes shown at the Olympics in Sochi, according to the decision of the commission, will be canceled.
Thus, the Russian team will lose three more awards. At the games in Sochi, Zubkov's crew won gold medals in the doubles and fours. Fatkulina must return the silver that she won in the 500 m to the IOC.
All four Russians have been banned from participating in the next Olympic Games in any capacity.
Thus, Russia lost first place in the medal standings at Sochi 2014, falling to third place. In general, the Russian team has already been deprived of 9 medals - 3 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.
It is reported that the Oswald commission will continue to consider the cases of the Russians in the near future. First of all, the cases of athletes applying for participation in Pyeongchang 2018 will be examined.
And on December 5, the IOC will decide whether Russia will be allowed to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics at all.
