This was stated by Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, the press service of the GPU reports.
“Now a radical reform is beginning in the management system of the prosecutor’s office in the state. Previously, the Prosecutor General had the authority to personally appoint and remove anyone to positions. Now everything is changing, according to the current legislation, from April 15, I lost dictatorial powers by appointment,” Lutsenko said.
He added that prosecutorial self-government bodies will be formed within a month.
According to the Prosecutor General, delegates to participate in the All-Ukrainian Conference of Prosecutors, during which members of the Council of Prosecutors of Ukraine and the Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors will be elected, will be elected at a meeting of employees of prosecutors' offices of all levels and the central apparatus.
“This will slow down personnel work, but I think this is very good, considering that the prosecutor’s office will cease to be post-Soviet. I realize that many organizational problems will arise, however, this is a step in the right direction, any manifestations of totalitarianism, including in the prosecutor’s office, must be put an end to,” Lutsenko said, adding that the Council of Prosecutors will elect both deputy prosecutor generals and and district prosecutors.
Let us recall that on April 15, the Law of Ukraine “On the Prosecutor’s Office” came into force regarding the implementation of provisions on the functioning of prosecutorial self-government bodies and the qualification and disciplinary commission of prosecutors.
