Lutsenko offered Ruban a deal in exchange for the appearances and passwords of “Moscow agents”
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko believes that in the event of a deal with the investigation, the head of the Center for the Release of Prisoners “Officer Corps” Vladimir Ruban may report “high-ranking officials from the Russian Federation involved in plans for destabilization in Ukraine,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the moment, we can talk about the known role of the actual leaders of the paramilitary units, on the territory of which the Savchenko-Ruban duo received weapons and ammunition for the terrorist attack they were preparing. We know these names, the investigation in this part is also underway, but whether these will be the last top defendants from the Russian Federation - I cannot say now, the investigation must answer this. And this is precisely where I see the possibility of concluding an agreement with Mr. Ruban, who obviously knows more than Savchenko about the Kremlin’s plans,” he said at a briefing at the training ground of the Alfa Center (Koncha-Zaspa shooting range, Kiev region) on Thursday , reports the press service of the GPU.
Lutsenko also noted that if Ruban wants to be exchanged for Ukrainian prisoners of war, then he will have such an opportunity immediately after the completion of the trial. “If the court supports our evidence and makes a lawful decision, then, of course, convicted terrorists could theoretically become the subject of exchange. On whom, in what proportion, it’s definitely not up to Ruban and definitely not his lawyer to decide,” he believes.
