This was stated by Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko during today’s report on the results of the special confiscation in 2017 at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on national security and defense.

“I can say, within the framework of secrecy, that the Ministry of Defense received most of these funds. And when we read in the media that, finally, hundreds of domestically produced missile systems have been delivered to the army, it is for these funds,” said the Prosecutor General.

He considered it incorrect to clarify the volumes and characteristics of the missile weapons supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, emphasizing that the army was waiting for this particular equipment.

According to the Prosecutor General, from the special confiscation of the assets of Yanukovych’s organized crime group in April 2017, 29,7 billion UAH were allocated to the State Treasury accounts for the defense needs of the state, including the State Border Service, 700 million UAH, of which 300 million UAH - for the improvement of the state border and UAH 400 million for the creation of a “finger identification” system.

In addition, according to Lutsenko, the National Guard received UAH 900 million from special confiscation funds for the purchase of armored vehicles in 2017. Another 1,48 billion UAH of these funds were allocated to the National Police to strengthen the activities of the patrol service, he said.
