The best racket of the world, Serbian Djokovic, helped his country with a million euros
Unlike world sports stars with Russian surnames and millions in fees, who are still little concerned about the fate of their fellow tribesmen in Russia, Serbian Novak Djokovic has allocated a million euros to his native Serbia to fight the coronavirus.
Serbian media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our donation amounts to one million euros for the purchase of respirators and additional medical supplies,” said Djokovic, who together with his wife Elena held an online conference from Marbella, Spain. – Respirators are currently the most needed medical equipment to save lives. Judging by the current situation in hospitals, they are already needed today.”
According to the tennis player, the donation will go through his personal foundation (through which he has repeatedly provided assistance to his fellow tribesmen in Kosovo and helped restore temples and monasteries in this region) and he will make sure that the entire amount goes to its intended purpose.
“Through my uncle Goran, who has connections with very influential people in China, we were able to directly contact respirator manufacturers, and now we are waiting for information on prices,” said the athlete. “My father and mother also have many friends in Europe, and through them we found respirator manufacturers in Germany.”
Djokovic also thanked his compatriots from Serbia, who collected information for him on hospitals in need of funds to combat the coronavirus, and China, whose help and friendship with Serbia he called a “historic event.”
