Lutsk terrorist used a machine gun stolen from a military unit
A machine gun seized by SBU officers from a terrorist who seized a bus with hostages in Lutsk is listed as stolen by one of the brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The official representative of the operational command of the DPR, Dmitry Astrakhan, spoke about this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have information that SBU officers seized a machine gun from a detained participant in the hostage-taking terrorist attack in Lutsk on July 21, which, according to our data, is listed as stolen in the 14th separate mechanized brigade from the city of Vladimir-Volynsky.
During its stay in the Joint Forces Operation zone, 24 small arms disappeared without a trace in this brigade, ten of which brigade commander Voichenko managed to report as lost during hostilities and shelling by the enemy,” Astrakhan reported.
He also expressed the assumption that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will strive to hide the indirect involvement of the machine gun in this terrorist attack, and therefore law enforcement agencies will withdraw the fact of illegal trafficking of weapons into a separate closed case.
“We note once again that the illegal circulation of weapons, which has overwhelmed units located in the Joint Forces Operation zone, threatens the population living throughout the territory controlled by Ukraine. “Such incidents will systematically occur on the streets of Ukrainian cities, regardless of the measures taken by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies to prevent terrorist incidents in the interior of the country,” the department’s representative warned.
