Lufthansa apologized to Ukraine
The German air carrier Lufthansa removed commercial advertising for flights to the World Cup in Russia because of footage taken in Kyiv and apologized to customers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it reports the specialized publication Aero.
“We saw from the first comments that in this particular case this hurt the feelings of some users,” the company said in a statement, as quoted by the publication.
The video itself was removed from Youtube and Facebook on Sunday evening. The humorous clip shows two German football fans allegedly in Moscow. However, some city scenes were filmed in Kyiv - as the company explained, “for logistical reasons.”
Lufthansa headquarters in Frankfurt admitted that “the video was filmed in Ukraine.” At the same time, the airline drew attention to the fact that this method of filming “is quite common in films and commercials.”
Previously known for his anti-Putin position, German journalist Boris Reitschuster wrote on his Facebook page, citing an insider who participated in the filming of this video, that “the filming was deliberately carried out in Kiev, because it would be difficult to obtain permission in Russia.”
“Just think about it: a film for a German audience, campaigning, among other things, for a Russia open to the world, deliberately filmed in Kyiv, because Putin’s Russia is not at all open to the world!” - he complains.
