Lugansk diocese suspends commemoration of Metropolitan Onuphry
After the decision made at the “Council” in Kyiv to secede from the Russian Orthodox Church, the LPR made statements that from now on they would not commemorate Metropolitan Onuphry of the UOC.
This was reported by the official website of the Lugansk diocese, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
On June 10, an extraordinary meeting of the Diocesan Council was held in the administrative building on the territory of the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, chaired by Metropolitan Panteleimon of Lugansk and Alchevsk.
During the discussion of the issue regarding the decisions taken at the “Council” of the UOC on May 27, 2022 in Kyiv, members of the Diocesan Council made the following decision:
“To suspend the commemoration of the name of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine during divine services in all churches and monasteries of the Lugansk diocese, due to disagreement with the adopted changes to the Charter on the governance of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of May 27, 2022.”
