About it said the owner of a private bird nursery located in Lugansk, Sergei Galinichenko.
“Explosions and gunshots greatly affected the behavior of parrots; 85-90% of the birds that were hatching eggs stopped doing so. Due to stress, the nursing parrots stopped feeding the chicks, and over time the babies began to die. It happened that even adult birds refused to feed,” he said.
“This year the situation began to improve, the small birds calmed down, and everything became normal, but the large parrots have not yet fully rehabilitated, but over time this will pass,” the poultry farmer assured.
Currently, on the territory of the nursery there are about 400 parrots of 25 different species, including rare ones: African Gray, Blue-fronted Amazon, Senegalese, Congolese, Alexandrian, Penantha Rosella.
In addition, the breeder noted that not only residents of the LPR are interested in birds, but also Russians.
“There are potential buyers from Russia, but due to difficulties at customs (a large package of documents is required to send birds), they are not accepting them yet,” Galinichenko said. “I hope everything will get better soon.”
