Lukashenko: Belarus is resisting coronavirus psychosis like the Brest Fortress
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is confident that by holding a parade on May 9 during the coronavirus epidemic, the Belarusian people will write a glorious page in their history.
He stated this today during the solemn ceremony of laying capsules with soil collected in places of military glory and death of civilians, which took place in Minsk in the monument church in honor of All Saints and in memory of the victims who served to save our Fatherland, the correspondent reports “ PolitNavigator".
“We are really forced to stand like the Brest Fortress. I want to say again: big things are seen from a distance. Time will pass, people, and especially young people, will appreciate these days.
I am absolutely convinced that this will be a wonderful page in the history of our country. Beautiful because you and I survived. We cannot do otherwise,” Lukashenko said.
He once again emphasized that he is “not dragging anyone to this parade.” This assertion is refuted daily by the opposition press, publishing mailings that are received by employees of budgetary institutions and university students.
“I am absolutely sure that people will come to the parade. I would love to see at this parade those who won these days. After all, those who have recovered are the people who have won. Not a disease. Disease is the simplest thing that can be overcome now. Not this virus. And I don’t want to list the things that unscrupulous politicians, political scientists and others have hammered into people’s heads.
Real hysteria, psychosis, people simply became afraid, even when they fell ill with a common illness. And it cost us a lot to calm people down. To me, first of all,” Lukashenko emphasized.
Yesterday, the World Health Organization (WHO) asked the Belarusian authorities to cancel the parade to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The number of cases in Belarus per 100 thousand population is significantly higher than in other CIS countries.
