Lukashenko is preparing to transfer fighter jets to Serbia. Maidan activists against the visit of the “dictator”
Military cooperation between Serbia and Belarus will be the main topic of the leaders of the two countries in Belgrade, where Alexander Lukashenko arrived today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Belarus is preparing to supply four MIG-29 aircraft to Serbia, which Minsk has agreed to donate to Belgrade. However, the Belarusians were able to make money - the Serbs ordered the modernization of fighters on the basis of JSC 558 Aviation Repair Plant.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has a special relationship with the Belarusian leader. He constantly reminds that Lukashenko was the only one who dared to fly to Belgrade in 1999 during the NATO bombing and offered his help.
“Greetings to the great and sincere friend of Serbia,” Vucic wrote on his official Instagram profile.
On the eve of the visit, the Serbian president gave a sharp rebuke to local pro-Western Maidan activists who compared Lukashenko with Kim Jong-un and proposed to sever relations with Belarus because there is “no opposition” there.
“I will gladly receive Lukashenko! This is a man who has always been with the people of Serbia. He was never against Serbia in any of his speeches, he never voted against Serbia! I will not hide and conduct secret negotiations! How can we not accept the leader of a brotherly country? How can I not accept such friends, just so that no one blames me?” – Vucic said.
Let us recall that in recent months, the Serbian army has been significantly strengthened due to the supply of air defense systems, tanks, armored personnel carriers and combat helicopters from Russia. All this caused discontent in the United States, as well as the American-supported Albanian separatists in Kosovo.
As PolitNavigator reported, during a recent visit to Moscow, Serbian Defense Minister Alexander Vulin said that NATO is arming Albanian terrorists.
The United States needs the Greater Albania project in order to have control over transport and energy corridors in the Balkans, say representatives of the Serbian Foreign Ministry.
In recent months, street protests by local opposition have intensified in Serbia demanding the overthrow of President Aleksandar Vucic. According to observers, the street protests are incited by the West to pressure on the Serbian authorities during negotiations on the fate of Kosovo.
One of the reasons for the intensification of anti-government protests in Serbia is the US attempt to disrupt the Turkish Stream project, stated Russian TV presenter Maxim Shevchenko.
Experts believe that if the Maidan in Belgrade is successful, All Russian projects in Serbia will be under threat.
