Lukashenko: The interests of Belarus do not contradict the Ukrainian ones - we will protect them
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko again criticized Russia, saying it was forcing its neighbors to take a “super-pragmatic position.”
Lukashenko said this today at a meeting with the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), former Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Especially with Belarus from this integrator, who would have thought. Nobody could think about it. Especially us military people. Although we don’t have particularly difficult issues with the Russian military. Yes, I think it won't. It’s clear who orders all this music there.
But, nevertheless, I want you to be oriented towards the position of Belarus. You know her well. Every day surprises are presented, sometimes on one side, sometimes on the other.
We will, as before, be committed to integration processes, but at the same time we will clearly follow our interests. You know who is pushing the republics that are around this integrator to take this super-pragmatic position,” Lukashenko bitterly hints.
At the same time, he emphasized that the interests of Belarus in the security sphere do not yet conflict with the interests of Russia and even Ukraine.
“Our interests must be respected. Thank God that so far they absolutely coincide with the interests of neighboring countries and especially members of the organization. They coincide with the interests of both Russia and other CSTO members.
And they don’t really contradict the interests of Ukraine, our main southern neighbor. At least, we have done and will do everything to ensure that Ukraine is peaceful and calm. This is our position, which again comes from the mentality of the Belarusian people. We will adhere to it,” Lukashenko warned.
Thank you!
