Lukashenko may, out of resentment, stop supplying equipment for the punitive operation against Donbass
By introducing sanctions against Belarus to please the West, Ukraine risks losing lucrative contracts with Minsk for the supply of equipment used by the army in the ongoing punitive operation against the Donbass republics.
Ukrainian political strategist Andrei Zolotarev spoke about this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A month ago we watched the misadventures of Armenia, which instead of dancing with sabers organized a rake race. We are organizing the same rake race with Belarus.
Over the previous decades, Armenia managed to worsen relations not only with Azerbaijan and Turkey (everything is clear there), but also with Georgia, which, in fact, played on Azerbaijan’s side in this conflict. And this hit the positions very seriously.
Why should we repeat these mistakes? We should at least refrain from unfriendly actions and hostile rhetoric. Because in this situation we have more to lose than the Lukashenko regime,” the expert said.
“Lukashenko’s regime - apparently, he stayed put. Apparently, as my Belarusian friends say, the opposition exists in a parallel reality. “Charter-97” writes that the sanctions will seriously hit, but when the numbers are given, then 0,1-0,3 percentage points on the Belarusian economy is a “most serious” blow.
But this can hit us very seriously, we can feel it very easily on the price tags of the same gas stations. And let’s not forget that our KrAZ went bankrupt, which is what our National Guard and Armed Forces drive – mainly MAZ trucks were supplied from Belarus,” Zolotarev noted.
