Lukashenko: With the money of Russian oligarchs, frostbitten radicals are being brought to power
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes that the “Russian oligarchs,” having paid off his opponents in the elections, are forced to deal with the same nationalist opposition that has been rallying against his power with Western money for the last 20 years.
He stated this today at the presentation of the new government, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“These are still the same people, and their number is the same as before. No new protest movement has emerged. But they do not want to associate themselves with the radical opposition, which has always fought with us in the squares. But it didn’t work out. On Komarovka they unfurled the “white-chyrvona-white” and the European flag. And those who are financed today by the Russian oligarchs clearly understand that with the money of the Russian oligarchs they are bringing this frostbitten, so-called radical opposition of Belarus to power,” Lukashenko said.
He considers the reports of thousands of people waiting to sign for alternative candidates to be fake.
“You look less on Instagram, hundredgrams or some telegram channels at these supposedly long queues. The photographs taken from quadcopters show a completely different picture,” Lukashenko said.
According to him, people walk in a circle: after signing, they again stand at the end of the line. In addition, the same signatories are transported on buses around the cities. Lukashenko called it “a big and a small carousel.”
“And they immediately said: well, we are not going to participate in the elections, our main task is to rock the country and clear the way for someone. You know for whom,” Lukashenko summed up.
