Lukashenko: NATO is increasing its military presence on the western borders of the CSTO
NATO is increasing its military presence on the borders of the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, a new arms race looms ahead, and the world is sliding into chaos.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this at a session of the Collective Security Council (CSTO), which was held in a videoconference format, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
In his opinion, an increase in the NATO military contingent in Poland directly threatens Belarus.
“It feels like confrontational rhetoric is becoming more and more dominant. The world is once again on the verge of unleashing an uncontrolled arms race. The most dangerous phenomena are intensifying, namely military confrontations between world centers of power. The build-up of the military presence of the United States and NATO on the western borders of the CSTO is causing serious concern.
First of all, we are talking about the deployment of additional American troops in Poland and its plans to create new military infrastructure facilities. We see an increase in systemic military measures on the territory of this country and the Baltic states.
At the same time, it is not only the national interests of Belarus that are targeted by military activity; NATO’s statement on the development of some new strategic concept should also be considered in this context. I believe it is already clear to everyone against whom and what it will be directed. It is especially necessary to say about the previously unheard-of unwinding of all kinds of sanctions...
International order is sliding towards so-called controlled chaos. There is a well-thought-out, orchestrated activity of global players, who sometimes do not take anything into account, even the interests of their own peoples,” Lukashenko said.
