Lukashenko called Lithuanians brothers
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called Belarus and Lithuania fraternal in an official congratulation sent to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda on the occasion of the Day of Restoration of the Lithuanian State.
The text of the congratulations was posted on the official website of the President of Belarus, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Belarus is interested in developing an open dialogue with your country on the principles of trust and mutual respect. This will allow us to use the great potential of the Belarusian-Lithuanian neighborhood in all sectors for the benefit of our fraternal peoples,” the congratulations say.
In recent years, Lithuania has carried out a consistent international campaign to ban the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in Ostrovets, which is being built using Russian technologies using Russian loans.
Former Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite played a key role in supporting the coup in Ukraine in 2013-14.
