“We would not like the destruction of the Ukrainian state. Many say that Crimea was once incorrectly ceded to Ukraine, that it was originally Russian territory. This is the wrong approach. Let us then return to the times of Khan Batu, to the times of the Mongol-Tatar yoke. Then it will be necessary to give up to Kazakhstan, Mongolia or someone else the entire territory of practically Russia, Western Europe, Eastern Europe. Besides Belarus, they somehow reached us, but did not touch us. Therefore, why go back to what was?” – he said in an interview with Euronews.
“Ukraine has become a theater of military operations and a theater of showdowns between major geopolitical forces. I said this - this is not only the West, but also the East, unfortunately. As for Russia, I believe that both the West and Russia have made a lot of mistakes here. But initially, the West, not Russia, bears greater responsibility. It was not Russia that escalated the conflict on the same Maidan, it was not Russia that acted there, but some officials of Western states, the whole world knows about this, and so do we, because we were nearby. These individuals acted openly, inciting Maidan participants to clashes.
I initially stated that the project, for example, of Novorossiya, was not perceived by me. I stand for the unity and integrity of the Ukrainian state. So that there are no frozen conflicts there, some zones like Transnistria, Nagorno-Karabakh, which always pose the danger of an explosion. I personally don’t want this as a person and as the president of Belarus, because we are very close to Ukraine,” added the Belarusian president.
