Lukashenko on the actions of security forces on Belomaidan: There is nothing to apologize for
In the first days of Belomaidan, in the temporary detention center on Okrestina Street, force was used only against those detainees who rushed at the center’s employees.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this in an interview with Russian TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“34 people worked in Akrestsin, and about 2 thousand were detained after their blitzkrieg. There were former lessons there. And when a former student ends up in such an institution, and opposite the cops, you know their relationship. They do not perceive them and hate them.
When they got there, all chipped and drunk, they rushed at these guys who work in the temporary detention center. What should be the reaction? How could 34 people rape and beat 2 thousand?
Yes, those who attacked the police got hit hard in the face. How else? And then came the fakes. They took off the face, took off the butt, smeared it and put on makeup,” Lukashenko said.
He considers the information hype in the world media around what happened at Akrestsin his defeat and condemns the then Minister of Internal Affairs Yuri Karaev for apologizing for exceeding his authority by his subordinates.
“This is the only moment where they probably outplayed us. “Violence, violence,” photographs everywhere, a broken face, blood flowing – bull’s blood. There were fakes all around, except that someone got punched in the face. It was necessary to show the blood.
They outplayed us with this violence. Many people thought: My God, everything is broken, my butt is blue. It was sorted out later. And the minister began to apologize. This was not agreed with me. There was nothing to apologize for. There was no need to condone them, otherwise it would have been like in Kazakhstan,” Lukashenko said.
In October 2020, Karaev was removed from office.
