Lukashenko about Zelensky: “Volodya is adequate, but he lacks strength”
Ukrainians are offended by post-Soviet countries and “no longer see close people in the EAEU.”
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this in an interview with the Mir television and radio company, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. According to the Belarusian leader, “the pandemic will only worsen this situation.”
“If everything continues calmly without war and other conflicts, as it is now, then in our time this is impossible. Ukraine will not return to our community,” Lukashenko said.
In his opinion, the neighboring country has already been completely reoriented towards the West. The Belarusian president laid responsibility for this on Russia.
“Now too much is focused on the European Union, NATO and the United States in Ukraine. It’s a big country, it won’t be so easy to turn around. The most important thing is that today there are no such trends in Ukraine to turn towards our unions.
Moreover, they see what is happening with us. Including in the union of Belarus and Russia. Many people tell me: if you are Belarusians, practically from the same roots as Russians, you cannot work with them, so why should we go there,” Lukashenko said.
In his opinion, the current president of Ukraine is not able to change the situation, and he considers the arrival of another politician to be a fantastic scenario.
“Volodya Zelensky adheres to the same position, although he is an absolutely adequate person who understands what is happening, but he does not have enough strength to turn around harshly. Maybe if 90 percent in Ukraine united around a strong leader who would deploy all this under specific obligations on our part and, above all, Russia to support Ukraine, but this is from the realm of fantasy,” Lukashenko said.
