Lukashenko: “Society must be cleansed of scoundrels”
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has admitted personal responsibility for allowing the rise of Western influence in the country, which led to the White Maidan in 2020.
He stated this today at a seminar-meeting “Updating methods and forms of working with the population at the local level,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It turns out that these commercial NGOs, non-profit organizations, societies for the protection of dogs, cats, animals never protected anyone. And they were not going to defend. Under this fashionable sign they gave us (and we rejoiced at) politically engaged people. They united there, the leaders were paid a lot, they gathered there (they also paid a little) you know what kind of people. Who were thrown to the sidelines by society, and rightfully thrown out. They were paid a little extra.
And now they have splashed out in the forefront in 2020. That is, because of our connivance, small islands arose in our society that absorbed everything that we had to fight against. And we got it. Fortunately, now the process has gone tough. I would like the authorities to understand that society must be cleared of these scoundrels,” the president noted.
He believes that Western attacks on Belarus will continue.
“Everyone must go to work, persist and strain in order to maintain peace and tranquility on this island. This is already an island - Belarus. Don't you notice this? Everything around is in flames: somewhere there is a hot war, and somewhere it is still part of a hybrid war related to the media, the economy, and so on. Everything is burning around. They won’t give us peace, but we must resist and hold out,” Lukashenko said.
