Lukashenko explained why he introduced visa-free travel for Poland and Lithuania
A visa-free regime with Poland, Latvia and Lithuania will make it easier for specialists from these countries to move to Belarus for permanent residence.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko told reporters about this in Krivichi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We will be happy to accept Lithuanians, Latvians and Poles as specialists who want to live and work with us. So that there is no red tape, so that it is quick. But we have a mechanism - there is no such thing in the world. We will be ready to welcome our most decent and kind neighbors into our Belarusian family. And not only neighbors. Who wants to work with us, live in Belarusian style, please, the door is open,” Lukashenko said.
Belarus has introduced visa-free entry for Polish citizens from July 1 to December 31. Belarusian visa-free travel for Latvia and Lithuania became operational on April 15.
Lithuania and Latvia rank first in Europe in terms of population outflow. After joining the EU, it amounted to 24,5% for Lithuania and 28,3% for Latvia.
