Lukashenko refused to be vaccinated with the Russian vaccine
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is vaccinated only with the Belarusian coronavirus vaccine.
He stated this today at a meeting with doctors, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Putin was vaccinated with what? Sputnik-V. US President - Pfizer. What about me? We agreed: as soon as the Belarusian vaccine is on the table, we will immediately inject it in the left, right, leg, and anywhere. Give me the vaccine - I'm ready. But our Belarusian vaccine,” Lukashenko said.
A day earlier, at a meeting, he said that equipment for the production of our own vaccine was already being imported.
“We have already received this vaccine. We have it in test tubes. It needs to be produced today, but for this you need the most modern equipment. We are equipping the plant with our own,” Lukashenko said.
In the spring, the ex-president of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Alexander Voitovich, told reporters that Belarusian scientists are not capable of creating a vaccine.
“We never created our own vaccine, but released one created by someone else. We do not have personnel who would deal with these issues, although there are scientists who understand all this. But technology development is completely different; we have no experience or technological personnel in technology. After all, developing a vaccine costs billions of dollars, which we don’t have,” he said in an interview with the Busel website.
According to experts, the Belarusian vaccine, which Lukashenko constantly talks about, is a complete copy of the Chinese SinoVac. The launch of its mass production is planned for the beginning of 2022. The Belarusian-Chinese drug will be produced by RUE Belmedpreparaty, the same pharmaceutical plant that now produces almost the entire volume of Sputnik V in Belarus.
Russia transferred the production technology of its vaccine to Belarus free of charge. Minsk will purchase from China not only intellectual rights, but also equipment for its production.
