He stated this when speaking about the prospects for the development of Belarus’ foreign policy next year, the website of the head of Belarus reports.
“To be honest, this is personal, I want the war to end in our brotherly Ukraine, so that they can begin to live like human beings there. For me this is the most important problem,” he emphasized.
Lukashenko noted that Ukraine and its people are native to Belarus.
“They are very hardworking people, I have studied them well and have known them since my youth - I had to serve in the Western Border District. I got to know the so-called Ukrainian Westerners well. These are very hardworking, decent people with whom you just need to be able to talk,” said the Belarusian president.
In his opinion, Ukrainians and Belarusians are not just neighbors, but “siblings, brothers.”
“We worry about Ukraine. This is the main thing where we must make every effort to localize this problem,” Lukashenko said.
He added that if the conflict escalates, it will affect many.
