Lukashenko vowed that his “presidential life” is at an end
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will do everything to ensure that the upcoming changes to the constitution comply with the will of the Belarusian people.
He stated this today at a meeting on the preparation of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, at which changes to the Constitution of Belarus should be approved, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Everything will be as it is (both the constitution and issues will be resolved) as only the Belarusian people decide. These are not empty words, this is my oath. At the end of my presidential life, I guarantee that it will only be as the people decide,” Lukashenko said.
Let us recall that Russia insists on constitutional reform as a way out of the political crisis in Belarus. According to experts, after changes are made to the basic law, early presidential elections should take place without Lukashenko’s participation. The Belarusian president has already promised opposition members in jail that this presidential term will be his last.
