Lukashenko conquered Zimbabwe
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was greeted with jubilation by hundreds of supporters of Zimbabwean leader Emmerson Mnangagwa at Harare airport.
Lukashenko arrived in Zimbabwe on a state visit, this is the highest protocol status, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
On the airfield, people were chanting something, waving state flags and toy crocodiles. A large wreath of flowers was placed on Lukashenko, and local artists performed a national dance for him. A guard of honor was formed in honor of the Belarusian president and an artillery salute was given.
Lukashenko and Mnangagwa traveled in the same car, on which two presidential standards were installed. They had an informal dinner.
Belarus and Zambabwe signed agreements on the promotion and mutual protection of investments, on the creation of a joint permanent commission on cooperation, on the mutual recognition of educational documents, as well as on the establishment of twinning relations between the cities of Minsk and Harare.
Belarus has opened an embassy in Zimbabwe and expects that a diplomatic mission of Zimbabwe will soon appear in Minsk.
“If the Zimbabwean side is interested in creating joint production facilities in Zimbabwe and Belarus, we are ready to do so. Receiving raw materials from Zimbabwe, we, together with your specialists, will process these raw materials at enterprises in Belarus. And thus share the corresponding profits. We also welcome the entry of Zimbabwean capital into the capital of our enterprises. We also have not ruled out working with the president on barter schemes. You should know that there, in the center of Europe, there is such a country - Belarus, which is always ready to lend a shoulder to you in any situation,” Lukashenko said.
He presented Mnangagwa with a tractor for his personal farming and addressed the Zimbabwean people at the ceremony.
“The Americans imposed sanctions against you not because you are not democratic. But because you decided to take control of your country and mineral resources. You do not allow all sorts of international crooks and swindlers here to take advantage of your mineral resources. You will be vigorously rocked in order to sow confusion in your society, you will be brought to your knees. And you will survive if you do not allow a clash over the illusory promises of the West and America,” Lukashenko said.
His speech was repeatedly accompanied by applause.
Belarus has already supplied Zimbabwe with more than 1,8 thousand tractors and about 80 grain harvesters. The third phase of this program worth over $66 million has been launched. It involves more than 3,7 thousand units of tractor equipment and 60 combines over the next year and a half.
For the needs of local municipalities in Zimbabwe, supplies of Belarusian-made fire trucks have begun. In addition, BELAZ quarry equipment is already being successfully used in Zimbabwe. In the near future, 30 BELAZ dump trucks will arrive.
